Baby Oindrila Omkar Das, a 4-year-old child, has been courageously fighting Aplastic Anemia, a serious and life-threatening condition in which the body fails to produce sufficient healthy blood cells. While most children her age are playing and learning, Oindrila has spent her early years undergoing painful treatments and hospital visits.
After months of struggle, Oindrila underwent a life-saving Bone Marrow Transplant in August 2025 at Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children, Mumbai. The surgery was successful, and she is currently in the post-transplant recovery phase.
However, a bone marrow transplant is not the end of treatment—it is only the beginning of a long and delicate recovery journey.
Current Medical Status
Oindrila is now on regular outpatient (OPD) follow-up, requiring:
Continuous post-transplant medicines
Regular medical monitoring and tests
Strict infection-prevention care
Ongoing doctor consultations
These steps are critical to ensure that the transplant remains successful and that her body fully accepts the new marrow.
Family & Financial Background
Oindrila’s family belongs to West Bengal and had to travel to Mumbai for her treatment, leaving behind their home and livelihood. Her father works as a daily laborer, earning approximately ₹1,20,000 per year, to support a family of four.
The prolonged treatment, travel, accommodation, and medical expenses have exhausted the family’s savings. The estimated cost required for Oindrila’s continued post-transplant care is ₹3,00,000, an amount far beyond the family’s capacity.
Without timely financial support, continuing her treatment becomes extremely difficult.
