Let’s come together & Save the Visually Impaired Girls from Being Homeless, And Help Them Live An Independent & Dignified Lives.

Maa and Papa weren’t the happiest when I was born. They thought I was a burden to them. My villagers said I had brought bad luck to the family. They thought I’d never amount to anything because I was not only a girl but also born blind. I wanted to prove them wrong. But I needed help. I felt hopeless. Blind Progressive Welfare Foundation helped me believe in myself and gave me a safe space to chase my dreams.” says, a former resident of Blind Progressive Welfare Foundation.

 

In 2017, Ms. Pranjal Patil became India’s first visually challenged IAS officer. In 2020, GV Oviya became the first visually impaired student of South India to write CBSE board exams using a computer and scored 447 marks out of 500 marks.

Blind Progressive Welfare Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting visually impaired individuals and providing them with essential resources and opportunities for a brighter future.

Over the past 2 years, they have been providing accommodation, support, and educational opportunities to visually impaired girls from various parts of India through our girl’s hostel situated in Dombivali, Thane, Mumbai – 421201. Blind Progressive Welfare Foundation is a beacon of hope for those unfortunate visually impaired girls belonging from poorest of poor families. “We strive to improve the quality of life for visually challenged girls through education, employment, and free accommodation. Most of these girls come from families whose incomes fall below the poverty line. We provide shelter, nutritious food, and free medical care at our hostel. These visually impaired girls also need training and mentoring to meet their academic goals as well as job-seeking support once they graduate”, says Anil Divate, General Secretary of Blind Progressive Welfare Foundation.

With dwindling funds and donations, Anil Divate struggles to give them better facilities. They often fall short of groceries. Anil wants to change all of that. “These girls come from underprivileged families. They have no support from their parents yet they want to study further, get a Government Service. Their determination gives me a new purpose. I am so happy to be able to work for them,” – Anil Divate, Blind Progressive Welfare Foundation.

The current recession time leads to an extreme financial crisis for our Shelter. Our shelter doesn’t have sufficient grocery items to feed our in-housed visually impaired girls.

Together, we can give these young girls the tools they need to overcome challenges, follow their dreams, and make a difference in their communities.
