Even when she was just a few days old, I noticed that my baby would cry frequently. Having heard that some newborns go through phases of crying, I did everything I could to comfort her.
The moments when she would quiet down were precious- she was otherwise an active and playful little girl who never failed to bring a smile to my face.
However, months passed, and my little girl still continued to cry in discomfort.

“We tried everything we could to make the situation better. Thinking she might be tired or hungry, we made sure she was resting and eating well. Despite all this, nothing changed.”
However, when she didn’t show any signs of recovery even after weeks of trying different solutions, I began to get worried.
I immediately told my husband Ashok that something was wrong with our daughter.

“Ashok is a daily wage laborer. He works hard to earn enough for our family’s needs, and a visit to the doctor would be very costly for us, so I was hesitant to take our baby to the hospital.”
But I soon realized that my baby’s cries were telling of something far more serious than we were equipped to handle on our own. We borrowed money from relatives and took her to the doctor.
The doctor told us that her heart rate was abnormal and she needed to undergo a few advanced tests immediately.

We waited patiently for hours, praying for our child’s well-being but unfortunately, it seems our prayers fell on deaf ears.
Our baby was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. This means that she has a hole in her heart that is threatening her life.
She was immediately rushed into the intensive care unit and put on ventilators to assist her breathing.

I hardly had any time to process what was going on around me. Ashok and I emptied our lives’ savings to afford her medical care and spent nearly Rs 5 lakh on her treatment.
Unfortunately, this is not enough. She urgently needs corrective surgery to survive. The procedure will cost another Rs 5 lakh.

We’ve borrowed from all our friends and relatives, sold our valuables, and taken huge loans to get this far. There is no way we will be able to afford such a large amount to save our child in time.
