25 days ago, Sneha woke up to intense labor pains much earlier than expected. Panic set in as Vinayak frantically searched for help. With no time to wait for an ambulance, he rushed Sneha to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw. The usually short 10-minute journey felt like an eternity filled with anxiety and fear
Against all odds, their baby girl survived the premature birth – but his battle had just begun
Sneha and Vinayak’s hearts were filled with joy when their baby girl was born. But their happiness was quickly overshadowed by fear and uncertainty. Born extremely preterm with a very low birth weight, the little one has been fighting for her life in the NICU since his first breath.
She cannot breathe on her own and relies entirely on machines to keep him alive.
Every day, Shena visits her baby in the NICU. She gently touches his fragile hand, longing to hold her close.
“She curls her tiny fingers around mine, and it brings me so much joy and pain at the same time. I’m scared of losing her. I just want to bring her home and watch her grow,” says Sneha with tears in her eyes.
Vinayak, a daily wage laborer in Kolhapur, has not been able to work since his daughter’s birth. He spends his days shuttling between the hospital and home, comforting his wife and praying endlessly for his daughter’s recovery. The stress and worry often make him forget to eat, but all that matters to him is seeing his daughter healthy and safe.
“I feel so helpless watching my daughter fight for her life. I’ve done everything I can, but it’s not enough…” – Vinayak.
